Join the Pack Part 2

Posted by Unknown at Wednesday, April 23, 2014 0 comments
Hello everyone! :)

One of the most challenging things about starting a non profit is finding HELP.  There's TONS to do, however not enough MANPOWER or RESOURCES.  To date D.O.G.S. is still struggling with this, spreading the word about our ORGANIZATION and finding volunteers and fosters for our FOSTER database program.  #thestruggleisreal THANK GOODNESS for our current board members who work their butts off to get things ACCOMPLISHED (with FT jobs and lives, we love them even more for being so dedicated to D.O.G.S.), but we still need YOU or anyone you know.  We were LUCKY enough to have students from Carlson U of M draft up a marketing plan for us and we are so appreciative for that.  We are excited to set some of their ideas into MOTION.  Stay tuned!

Could you help us with this?

Become a foster: it's temporary but makes a PERMANENT difference in an animal's life #SAVEALIFE  we will get you connected to so many animals needing a home through other organizations we partner with.

Volunteer with us, we need help with events, putting together kits, helping with our funding for fundraiser programs and more!

Checkout our VP's FOSTER from PPR http://www.petprojectrescue

He's a sweetheart just waiting for his FUREVER home at our VP's house
Could it be you?

And last but not least our SPOTLIGHT RESUCE OF THE MONTH: Bella from Safe Hand Rescues http://www.safehandsrescue.com/

She's looking for a foster home and a FUREVER home :)

Adopt Don't Shop! #SaveALife

Posted by Unknown at Wednesday, April 02, 2014 0 comments
Hello everyone! :)

Lately it occurred to me that not everyone knows the 'in's and out's" of ADOPTING a FURBABY.  Sure I think hey, if you want to save a life, get a wonderful instant BFF, have a cuddle bunny by your side to keep you warm, enjoy the company and companionship of an amazing animal you would adopt, don't shop right?!  Not so much!  There are still people buying from pet shops and irresponsible breeders or simply just not knowing where to go, where to start or what to do.  Well I hope this can help a bit; PASS IT ON.

I LOVE ANIMALS and want to adopt the whole world of animals if that was feasible and healthy!  However WE can SAVE A LIFE, ONE life at a time by:

  • Truly looking at our lifestyle and within if an animal is right for us at this moment, in a year, 5 years, 10 years or BEYOND.  Adopting a FURBABY takes mad commitment, dedication, patience and most of all LOVE!
  • Is your home right for the animal you would like (i.e. yard for active doggies, time for puppies, training, money, time to spend with the animal (play time, bonding, feeding, potty time etc)  Truly assess is it right for me?  Is it right for the furbaby?
WHERE to look: check out rescue sites like
Adoption often times include applications, home visits, sometimes background checks before you can ADOPT the animal.  It's ALL WORTH it though.  The process is truly to look out for the best interest of the animals, whom most of the time have been through trauma, stress, tragedies and rescues want to make sure they find a GOOD HOME for the furbaby; not re-traumatized them again....understandably so.

So next time before you SHOP, before someone you knows SHOPS, PLEASE ADOPT instead. SPREAD THE WORD on ADOPTING and all the good things that come along with it:

  • Saving a life
  • supporting rescues that do such great work in saving animals
  • fees = donations
  • Putting an end to mills, homeless animals, overpopulation
  • and so much more!
If you would like assistance in adopting, we at D.O.G.S. can help you, contact us and we would be happy to help you navigate through it all @dogsofagoodsociety@gmail.com

Until next time,

ADOPT DON'T SHOP :)
