Hello everyone :)

We haven't blogged lately.  We have been busy working on our strategic plan for the next year, 1 year, 2 years...and 5 years!  Our board members are hard at work setting our plan into motion.  With a few weeks of preparation and a few hour long meeting; we finally developed our strategic plan.  It's important for any organization to have a plan down, a VISION and IDEAS on how to put the MISSION into action.  Working together collectively to build this plan is vital.  It is suggested that a planning meeting be done once a year to update or improve any new or existing ideas.  Preferably before your fiscal year ends. 

Looking ahead D.O.G.S. would like to focus more on:

•  Our Advocacy division
•  Marketing
•  Partnerships
• Supplies/funding/resources for animal organizations
•  Sustainability with funding for fundraisers and lots more!  

It's invigorating getting together with this group and nailing down ideas and a plan of action.  I feel so energized and re-inspired all over again, thanks to the board members of D.O.G.S.  

I feel so lucky and blessed to work with a talented, compassionate and AWESOME team!

If you want to be part of these great efforts there are many ways to get involved:

•  "Join the Pack" and become a Sustaining Partner by donating to our cause where 100% of the proceeds go directly to assisting animals in need right here in MN.  It's easy via PayPal, our website, Amazon or mail donations directly to us (pending 501c3)

• Become a volunteer, we can connect you with other organizations as well.  

• Make a world of difference for one animal, SAVE A LIFE, FOSTER.  Contact us for more info or to be added to our FOSTER list, where animals are waiting for a temporary home.

• Spread the word, quite simply SHARE us, LIKE us, FOLLOW us, whatever you do it MAKES A DIFFERENCE for animals :)

Spotlight of the Month

Amy is a lovely 4-5 month old lab mix. She is a very sweet pup who is learning all about life in the big world. She is working hard on house training and leash walking. 

She is spayed and up to date on her shots. She looks like she will be around 35 pounds full grown. Consider taking lovable Amy home!

She is available for adoption through Misunderstood Mutts!

Happy February!  This month D.O.G.S. has a sweet giveaway for your rescue animal.  Just send us a pic and description via email @ dogsofagoodsociety.org or comment below on why your animal in rescue needs a little love and we will feature the furbaby and share them!

  Susie is a 16-18 week old Mystery Mix girl looking for her forever home. She hasn't gotten much adoption attention because shes such a different looking girl. She is very sweet, and is working hard on house training as a bonus for the lucky home that finds her.

2nd Annual Benefit

Good Afternoon everyone! :)

Thank you to everyone who were able to make it to our 2nd Annual Benefit at Honey in NE.  We appreciate your support, generosity and coming out in the cold!  Thank you to everyone who donated their time, efforts and donations to us, without YOU we would not be able to assist animals in need.   Honey http://www.honeympls.com/ hosted a great event for us with amazing food and very helpful staff!  Take a look!  Pictures courtesy of Becca, our awesome photog! :)

With YOUR support we were able to provide:

 Over 1000lbs of food to animals in need these past few months.....

Over $1000 dollars in direct cash funds, supplies, and assistance....

Had the opportunity to collaborate with over 9 animal organizations....

Built partnerships with animal organizations....

Participated in the Breeder Bill action....

Worked on advocacy such as, Is Your Dog Cool (hot weather advocacy for pets)

and so much more!

This upcoming year we look forward to providing more supplies, funds, and support and focus more on advocacy issues.  Building more partnerships and continuing to collaborate with animal organizations.  And most of all working with YOU!  Pass it on!

We at D.O.G.S. really just begun getting the ball rolling these past few months.  Last year we heavily concentrated on building our foundation by recruiting awesome, quality board members to carry out our mission.  We also worked diligently for over 8 months to submit our IRS application for C3 status and we are still waiting on the results after 5 months of date of submission.  Fingers crossed! :)

Monthly Happenings Part 2!

JANUARY'S Spotlight Pet of The Month is PICKLES from TCPR, here he is hanging with our VP! :)

 About Me: I am a wonderful little guy. I have a very endearing, goofy boy. My tongue hangs out of my mouth most of the time because I am missing a lot of teeth (but no worries - I still eat and drink just fine - TCPR even has me on a diet!). I was recently released from a commercial breeder to TCPR. I am a little shy when being handled, especially when being picked up. I am learning what it is like to live in a home, and so far I love it! I have met other dogs and cats and I do very well.

BRRRRRRR it's cold in here, get your furbabies some gear! :)

BRRRRRR it's cold here in the Midwest! Below 20 or so brrrrrrrr

 D.O.G.S. is preparing for our cold weather festivities, we wanted to remind everyone to bring your animals inside, keep them warm, get them some cold weather protecting gear and don't forget about them outside!  If you see an animal outside in this weather help the furbaby out-call 311 or 911.  A couple of weeks ago one of my neighbors forgot their little doggie outside and we brought him into our home until we could reach the owners.  It's that simple, they were happy we did and they honestly just forgot about their furbaby!

I know my furbabies paws get really cold when we let them outside to potty so we have to put some doggie boots on them.  It really helps, they may take some time to get use to walking in them but they do work! :)  Check out Urban Tails Pet Supply http://www.urbantailspetsupply.com/ in Mpls for some gear; they are local, family owned and support rescues!
